Interesting Move

The cavaliers managed to turn an injury-prone, aging point guard into a second-year big who was a mid-first round pick in last year's draft. The Cavs traded David Wesley to the Nawlins Hornets for Cedric Simmons, a raw, defensive big man with above-average athleticism. He's young and plays 4/5. Methinks Anderson Varejao's bargaining position took a hit. I can somewhat understand why the Hornets made the trade: They drafted Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons as insurance in case Tyson Chandler underacheived, but Chandler had a career year last year and Armstrong showed a lot more polish offensively while not giving up much defensively. The hornets are seemingly in a playoffs or bust mode, with the acquisitions of Peja Stojakovic and Bobby Jackson last year and MoPete this year and the trades that sent out JR Smith and Simmons. Strange that they're spending so much money on middling to above average players when their cornerstones, Chandler and Paul, are as young as any duo in the league outside of Seattle/OKC/Clay Bennett-is-a-douche. I guess when Chandler and Paul are hitting their true primes these deals should come off the books and allow for a couple key signings. Let's just hope they aren't in the bidding for Simmons or Smith when they blow up.
